Assistant Editor – Transworld Ireland
Transworld Ireland is a vibrant imprint publishing a diverse range of fiction and non-fiction by Irish authors. Created in 2007 as an imprint of Transworld Publishers, part of The Random House Group, Transworld Ireland launched its first list in 2008. Among the  bestselling authors published by Transworld Ireland are Patricia Scanlan, Anita Notaro, Amanda Brunker, Marita Conlon McKenna, Claudia Carroll, as well as  Ronan O’Gara, Albert Reynolds, John O’Donohue, Sr Stan, Marc Coleman and Jarlath Regan.

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative, self-confident, dynamic and highly organised individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and prior experience within the publishing field to join Transworld Ireland as Assistant Editor.

Based in our office in Dublin and reporting to the Publisher, your time will be divided between a range of administrative and editorial responsibilities. You will be the first point of contact for authors, agents, journalists, sales and publicity contacts and other external organisations. Editorial responsibilities will include preparing TI’s and cover copy, evaluating manuscripts, drafting editorial notes, copyediting, proofreading, assisting with jackets, preparing briefs for acquisition meetings as well as liaising closely with internal departments such as Editorial, Publicity and Marketing in London. Administrative duties will include responsibility for office supplies and refreshments, post, invoices, expenses, Health & Safety and maintenance work as well as arranging meetings, travel, accommodation and schedules. You will also be responsible for regular website updates, handling website queries and minute taking.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, and a passionate and voracious reader of diverse fiction and non-fiction. This role calls for a confident and diplomatic individual who is flexible, has the ability to use own initiative and multi-task, a meticulous eye for detail and is willing to muck in. Excellent organisational skills, independent thinking, tact and sensitivity are a must.

Immediate availability would be desirable.
