Debut author Susan Lanigan has been shortlisted in the Historical Romantic Novel category in the 2015 Romantic Novelists’ Association Award (RoNAs) for her novel White Feathers (O’Brien Press). Susan joins one other Irish author, in the Historical Romantic Novel category (previously won by Philippa Gregory). A winner will be chosen in each category and will go forward to compete for the overall prize of The Romantic Novel of the Year Award.
Ivan O’Brien, MD of The O’Brien Press said, “The Romantic Novelists’ Association are experts at finding books that readers love to lose themselves in, and we are very proud of Susan Lanigan’s well-deserved shortlisting. It’s a beautiful, complex and engrossing book with a strong romantic and idealistic heart.”
Responding to the news of her shortlisting, Susan said, “I feel so joyous and grateful. In Ireland, literary romance has a battle ahead to win acceptance from a small cultural élite. But we’ve kept fighting, and the support and enthusiasm of so many, many readers, that of the booksellers, and the courage of my publisher O’Brien Press / Brandon – they have all been vindicated.”
The 2015 RoNA Awards will be announced and presented by Barbara Taylor Bradford on 16th March in London.
