Ireland: Guest of Honour at Karlsruhe Book Festival, Germany

Ireland was the Guest of Honour at the 26th Karlsruhe Book Festival. The Festival ran from Friday 14th November to Sunday 7th December and attracted over 62,000 visitors in the three weeks. The Irish programme featured Theo Dorgan, Gabriel Rosenstock, Maighread Medbh, James Ryan, Micheál Ó Conghaile, Mike McCormack, Declan Hughes, Pat Boran, Eva Bourke, Celia de Fréine, Eoin Bourke, Nuala Ní Chonchuir, Ann Leahy and Matthew Sweeney. Our thanks to Culture Ireland for Travel Awards facilitating 10 publishers in attending the fair, 5 for the first time. Culture Ireland also funded work on the branding and design of the Ireland stand.

CLÉ at Aspects Festival
Aspects Literature Festival, 24 to 28 September 2008

Aspects, the premier Irish Literature Festival in Northern Ireland attracts readers and writers from all over Ireland to the North Down Museum Bangor. The increasingly popular event features the cream of Irish writing talent. As part of the publishers fair at the Festival, several small and/or independent presses and CLÉ travelled to Bangor.
