‘I found the International Rights seminar very helpful and worth attending , not only because of the quality of the speaker, but the insights and tips from other Irish publishers sitting around the table were really relevant to me.’
Fearghal O’Boyle, Managing Director, Columba Press
“Very practical – lots of real-life examples – and all my questions answered!”
Brian O’Kane, Managing director
Oak Tree Press
The first in our series of seminars kicked off last Friday when international rights expert Sophie Brewer braved near apocalyptic weather to take time out from her work with Pan Macmillan and Constable & Robinson to talk us through some of the best ways to make the most out of your lists and contact opportunities at international book fairs.
The audience was wide-ranging and included both large and smaller publishers, as well as students and publishers from diverse genres. Hot on the topic lists were the idea of using scouts and literary agents, planning your book fair visits effectively and not in a panic and the real issues behind the digital rights landscape. ‘It was great to have so many Irish publishers who were engaged’, said Sophie.
