21st Century Renaissance Launch Poetry Collection

Twenty-First Century Renaissance is set to launch Poetic Licence in a Time of Corona, on 12 May in Hodges Figgis, 6-8pm.  A medic finds healing for himself by writing poems on his phone as the pandemic grips –  rhythm, rhyme, haiku, a list-poem of what to do when someone can’t breathe, why Lionel Richie keeps sending him emails, reading a letter sent by Jürgen Klopp to his brother who is dying. Chris Fitzpatrick finds comfort in poets past, in Strictly Come Dancing, in what he’ll say to the Brazilian woman at the checkout when it’s all over. His fear, his grief, his laughter, his joy becomes ours too, as we are healed by the power of his words — a stream of consciousness presented as a narrative of blank verse.

You can listen to Chris on RTE’s Ryan Tubridy Show HERE
