AFEPI Ireland Webinar: Edit Smarter & Faster with Macros

AFEPI Ireland is delighted to announce its next webinar: Edit Smarter & Faster with
Macros, hosted by Jennifer Yankopolus and Paul Beverley – Wednesday 15 May, 4 – 5.30
p.m., at a discounted rate for Publishing Ireland members.

Imagine being able to automate repetitive editing tasks in Microsoft Word and save valuable
time and effort. Macros do exactly that. They are free editing tools for Word that speed up the
process of correcting capitalization, editing punctuation, looking up terms online, identifying
inconsistencies in proper nouns, and much more. With the right macros, you can enhance
your productivity and increase your earnings as an editor. They can also help reduce the risk
of repetitive strain injuries.

In this 1.5-hour webinar, you will learn:
· What macros are and why editors use them.
· How macros can streamline the editing of journal articles, book manuscripts, and other
Word documents.
· Which macros are popular among editors, and you’ll see how they work through live
demonstrations.
· Where to find resources to begin using macros.
Good to know:
· No coding experience is required! The session will focus on Paul Beverley’s free library
of well-over 1,000 preprogrammed macros.
· Macros function the same way on both PCs and Macs.
· Paul Beverley himself will join us to answer your questions!

Jennifer Yankopolus has been editing in the architecture and design field for 25 years. She
was the editor of the annual Almanac of Architecture & Design for 10 years and served as the
editor for Innovation magazine for 21 years. She is also an instructor in the University of
California, San Diego Copyediting Certificate Program and helps editors become more
efficient macro users through webinars, courses, and the Macro of the Month newsletter.
After a career as a self-publishing author, almost 20 years ago Paul Beverley changed to
freelance editing. Having discovered the huge potential of macros, he used them to increase
his earning rate, and made his macros freely available to colleagues. Now, having retired
from paid editing, he continues to broaden the range of macros available by responding to
pleas of ‘Is there a macro for…?’ He also assists Jennifer Yankopolus with her macro training
work by answering technical questions.

The registration deadline for the webinar is Friday 10 May by 5 p.m. Please note: This
webinar will be recorded and attendees will be sent a replay link with an expiration date.
