Richard Charkin

We are delighted to confirm our Keynote speaker is Richard Charkin, In his new book “My Back Pages” he demonstrates his unrivalled experience across so many diverse publishing disciplines during his fifty-year-long career to illustrate the profound changes that have affected the identity and practices of publishing since he began his first job in 1972.
During his career, Charkin has chaired several international publishing organisations and has held senior positions at Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Current Science Group and Reed Elsevier. He is a former president of The Book Society and non-executive director of the Institute of Physics Publishing. He was the former President of the International Publishers Association and UK Publishers and held the post of Executive Director of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc for 11 years. He is also a non-executive director of the Institute of Physics Publishing.
