Buaiteoirí Ghradaim Foilsitheoireachta Oireachtas na Gaeilge
Winners of the Oireachtas na Gaeilge Publishing Awards
On Monday evening, 23 September, the winners of the annual Oireachtas na Gaeilge Publishing Awards were announced in An Taibhdhearc, Galway. It’s the first year in a very long time that the presentation of awards was held outside of Dublin and the city of the Tribes gave a hearty welcome to the country’s Irish-language publishers.
Spiddal-based publisher Futa Fata and its imprint Barzaz had five titles in total shortlisted across the three categories. In total, 20 books were shortlisted but of course there can only be three winners.
Gradam Réics Carló 2024 was awarded to Na Trí Mhuicín, written by Áine Ní Ghlinn, illustrated by Paddy Donnelly and published by Futa Fata. Athmáthair, written by Michela Muglia and translated by Máire Nic Mhaoláin and published by Éabhlóid scooped the Gradam de Bhaldraithe award, and the most coveted award, Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin, was awarded to Crainn agus Toir, written by Máirín Nic Conchubhair and published by Dingle Publishing.
Futa Fata was so thrilled to have five titles shortlisted, but the icing on the cake is a win. And we are ecstatic that Na Trí Mhuicín won Gradam Réics Carló. A huge congratulations to Áine and Paddy and a míle buíochas to Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Foras na Gaeilge and the judges. Futa Fata and Barzaz wish to congratulate all the other winners on the night and of course all the nominees.
All books are available in good bookshops nationwide or online at www.siopaleabhar.com and www.futafata.ie.
Futa Fata wishes to gratefully acknowledge the ongoing support of Foras na Gaeilge, The Arts Council and COGG.
