Digital Project Editor


The Educational Company of Ireland is looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Digital Project Editor to join its busy Digital department.

Applicants should have a passion for e-learning, as well as in-depth knowledge of the specific requirements of educational publishing, including web-based and multimedia products. This collaborative role would suit a person who would relish the opportunity to scope out new and innovative possibilities for blended learning programmes.

The successful candidate will contribute to the production of creative, engaging and high-quality interactive resources for the Irish educational market.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

This is an exciting and varied position and responsibilities will include:

 Project Management

Taking responsibility for bringing specific digital projects through the publishing process, working within set budgets and schedules and ensuring that all editorial processes are adhered to

This includes:

  1. Working closely with authors throughout the development process
  2. Working within project budgets, managing and monitoring costs throughout the project
  3. Taking responsibility for the editing and proofreading of content
  4. Briefing and liaising with freelance editors and artists as required
  5. Liaising with print project editors to ensure the integration of material and schedules

Digital Resource Production

  1. Briefing and liaising with designers/developers regarding the development and design of digital products and resources
  2. Creating specifications and storyboards for interactive and multimedia content

To monitor the performance of developers and designers, and to liaise closely with them to ensure that excellent standards are maintained

 

Key Skills and Requirements

  • Applicants must have a relevant degree and at least three years’ experience in educational publishing
  • The ideal candidate will:
  • Have editorial experience, with a high level of literacy and accuracy, as well as excellent attention to detail
  • Be familiar with the specific requirements of digital publishing
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be highly organised and have the proven ability to multi-task
  • Be efficient and capable of working as part of a team
  • Experience of working on digital educational products; plus an understanding of the instructional design and/or UX/UI principles and practices would be useful.
