European Accessibility Act (EAA) Consultation for Publishers

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) will become law in Ireland on 28 June 2025. The goal of the EAA is to increase the availability of accessible products and services across the European Union. This will bring benefits to businesses through more market opportunities, easier cross-border trading and reduced production costs due to common rules on accessibility.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is responsible for promoting and enforcing compliance with the sections of the EAA that cover products, e-commerce services and e-books. To this end, we have developed draft guidelines, with the National Disability Authority, to help microenterprises understand their accessibility obligations under the EAA.

We are opening a consultation on these guidelines and welcome your feedback as a key stakeholder in implementing the EAA. We recognise that the guidelines are not relevant to all sizes of business but would value any insights, suggestions or concerns you may wish to share.

Where to find the guidelines

The guidelines are available on the CCPC website and in an accessible PDF. Feedback can be provided through the consultation form on the CCPC website.

The consultation is open from 7 April 2025 to 25 April 2025.
