Fiona Murphy to join Transworld/Doubleday

Penguin Random House Ireland is delighted to announce that Fiona Murphy, currently Publicity Director at Penguin Random House Ireland, will be joining Transworld/Doubleday Ireland from January 1st in the role of Editorial Director.

Since Fiona moved back to Ireland to join PRH Ireland in February ’16, she has masterminded Irish campaigns for, amongst many others, Roddy Doyle, Donal Ryan, Colm O’Regan, Ruth Fitzmaurice, John Boyne, Jilly Cooper, Robert Harris, Colm Cooper, Indy Power and Margaret Atwood. She has been a brilliant ambassador for so many of our books, whether they originate in London or Dublin. She was, quite rightly, named a Rising Star by the Bookseller in 2017.

Anyone who has had the good fortune to work with Fiona will know she is utterly dedicated to the books and the authors, she has a keen and strategic publishing intelligence and she is a great team player. As PRH Ireland moves into the next phase of our publishing it is reassuring to know that her hand will be on the Transworld/Doubleday Ireland tiller.

Fiona will report to Michael McLoughlin, MD Penguin Random House Ireland whilst working very closely with Bill Scott-Kerr, Publisher, Transworld UK and his team in Ealing to develop the list.

We are very sorry to tell you that Brian Langan will be leaving the company at the end of this month. Brian joined Eoin McHugh at Transworld Ireland in 2010 in the role of editor and since then he has been instrumental in growing the list and maintaining the standards which have secured TWI’s enviable reputation in the Irish trade. In particular his terrific work with Donal Ryan has established Donal as one of the key writers of his generation and helped to launch Doubleday Ireland as a significant new imprint of Irish literary fiction. But his success has not been confined to the literary side. His editing of Colm O’Regan has helped deliver a sequence of bestsellers for the Irish Mammy as well as last year’s comic hit, Bolloxology.

Brian intends to continue working within the publishing industry. We wish him all the best in his future career.
