IRISH BOOK WEEK

Irish Book Week 2022 takes place 15 – 22 October. Irish Book Week was created by Bookselling Ireland, a committee of Booksellers Association members representing bookshops big and small across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, in partnership with Publishing Ireland. Irish Book Week launched in 2018.

1.  Irish bookshops play a crucial role in championing homegrown talent and putting great Irish books into the hands of readers. Irish Book Week celebrates Irish authors and illustrators, publishers, and Irish interest books, as well as the many brilliant bookshops that sell them.

Thank you to our sponsors National Book Tokens, Gill Books, Argosy Books, Hachette UK, Penguin Random House UK, HarperCollins, Pan Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, DK, Bloomsbury, Canongate, Usborne, Scholastic, Atlantic, Faber & Faber, Bonnier Books UK, Chicken House, Icon Books, Profile Books, Walker Books.

We have just under 250 bookshops registered to participate and we’d love to collaborate with you on this year’s campaign. Please feel free to talk to your bookseller contacts directly about your ideas, or we can help to put you in touch and make arrangements.

Social media assets are available to download from the website https://booksaremybag.com/Resources/IrishBookWeek

Bookseller Newsletters

We will be sending Irish Book Week newsletters out to our members on a fortnightly basis, on Tuesdays. Please send details of any Irish Book Week offers you would like us to include to emma.bradshaw@booksellers.org.uk Ideally, copy should be no more than 300 words. Hyperlinks to resources, rather than attachments, are preferable. Low res images can be included. Some suggestions for offers that could work:

  • Signed stock
  • POS packs to create in-store table or window displays for your titles
  • Early releases
  • Authors who are available for events
  • Authors available for stock signings

If you already have bookshop activity planned for the week of 15 – 22 October that we could brand as Irish Book Week activity, please let us know and we can give it an extra push via social media and try to help secure media coverage.

POS Kits

We will have a limited number of POS kits that we can send out to publishers. These will contain bunting, bookmarks, posters and some publisher sponsored items. Please email emma.bradshaw@booksellers.org.uk to request one.
