CJ Fallon wishes to recruit an editorial assistant as part of its expanding Primary publishing team. This is a full-time position. The position suits a highly organised person with excellent communication and project management skills. The role involves liaising with authors and designers as well as the digital and sales departments. A third level degree, preferably, but not exclusively in English, is required. Salary dependent on experience.

Job description

The role of an editorial assistant in educational publishing is to provide assistance in all stages of the publication of books, ebooks and digital content. They support senior editorial staff in the administration of the commissioning, planning and production of all publications.

The editorial assistant role is the usual starting point for a career in editorial work. Progression to more senior roles such as editor or senior editor may be possible once the necessary skills and experience have been acquired.

Typical work activities

Editorial assistants perform a range of administrative and editorial tasks, including:

  • Proofreading
  • Editing
  • Copyright research
  • Creating digital scripts and content
  • Photo research and artwork briefs.
