Members Update July

Bookseller/Publisher Get-Together
The recent BI Bookshop Event in Galway was a great success with over 30 people gathered in Charlie Byrne’s, including several publishers. Ivan made a speech on behalf of PI, while Pat McCabe gave a great reading.

The next event is to be held in Waterstones, Cork on Thursday 25 July. We already have commitments to attend from local booksellers, politicians, media, VIPs etc and the event is sponsored by An Post: we are expecting over 60 people there.

This is a great opportunity for publishers to get exposure for their authors and books. There are various ways you can get involved:

1. Come along on the night – invitation attached.
2. Provide an author to speak at the event.
3. Supply books for the goodie bags (60 books): please send to Aoife Roantree, Manager, Dubray Books, Unit 14, Stillorgan Shopping Centre, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin. dubraystill@dubraybooks.ie<mailto:dubraystill@dubraybooks.ie>
4. Help with setting up the evening in the bookshop, stuffing bags, putting out drinks etc. (from 4pm)

We hope you will help to make this a really successful event and raise the profile of both publishing and bookselling in Ireland. Please contact Una or me and let us know what you can do.
