CHANGE CAN BE GOOD…

500 years ago, a young Spanish solider’s leg was shattered by a cannonball in battle. His dreams of a glorious military career were also crushed that day and he spent over six months in a slow and painful recuperation back to health. However, that event changed the entire course of the young man’s life, transforming him from a vainglorious young man obsessed with his own success, to one who put the service of God and other people before anything else.

That man was St Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, today the largest male religious order in the world.

From May 2021 – July 2022, the worldwide Ignatian family commemorates the 500th anniversary of this dramatic conversion.  Part of the ‘Ignatius 500’ celebrations is the publication of Walking with Ignatius, written by the Jesuit General, Fr Arturo Sosa SJ. It was launched with a presentation to Pope Francis on 4 May, published simultaneously in many languages across the world on 11 May and is a major international initiative for Jesuits across the globe.

Comprised of interviews With Fr Sosa conducted over a period of two months by Spanish journalist, Darío Menorthe book covers the life of Ignatius, the life story of Sosa, the challenge of the unsettling twenty-first century, and the future of the Church.

Messenger Publications is delighted to publish Walking with Ignatius in Ireland, Europe, the UK and Australia – all English editions outside North America and South East Asia.
