New Edition of All Shining in the Spring
Little Island have just announced a new edition of Siobhan Parkinson’s All Shining in the Spring: The Story of a Baby who Died available to buy now (http://littleisland.ie/books/all-shining-in-the-spring/). Illustrated by Donald Teskey, this is a book based on the author’s personal experience and is written to help children and families cope with the loss of a baby.
Matthew is excited about the new baby. But then, one day, something very sad happens. The doctor tells Matthew’s mother that her baby isn’t growing properly and it won’t be strong enough to live outside her body. Matthew and his mother and father will always remember their baby. But as time goes by, they will not feel sad so often. This child-centred book is intended to help children and families who experience miscarriage, stillbirth, perinatal death or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
This is an important and delicate subject for both parents and children and you can hear Soibhan discuss this and the book on Bookline with Teresa Quinn here: https://www.mixcloud.com/liffeysoundfm/bookline-4421-siobh{1242e6fa0da84f367e0f1ee6d30a8040af2734be4204b5a1a00eb52a7c2b34a2}C3{1242e6fa0da84f367e0f1ee6d30a8040af2734be4204b5a1a00eb52a7c2b34a2}A1n-parkinson-and-all-shining-in-the-spring/
