New Netflix series is based on “Sharing the Wisdom of Time”
A book that looks to our elders for wisdom and inspiration
Pope Francis set the bar high when he conceived the idea of pooling the wisdom of elders with the passion and energy of youth. The result is a book, Sharing the Wisdom of Time, in which the lessons learned by older generations become a gift to the young, empowering them to step into the world of tomorrow.
Now the book has provided the inspiration for a Netflix series, Stories of a Generation, which will be available to the world on Christmas Day 2021. The four-part documentary covers the themes of Love, Dreams, Struggle and Work, and features Pope Francis, Martin Scorsese and Jane Goodall among eighteen elders from five continents who share their experiences of love, loss, hope, peace and faith. Demonstrating that in order to ‘walk toward the future, the past is needed’, the elders display reservoirs of wisdom and historical memory, offering future generations much-needed understanding and insight.
Published by Messenger Publications in 2018, the book featured Pope Francis’ interactions with elder people from every corner of the globe – Latin America, the Far East, USA, Africa, Europe, Ireland and the UK. It is illustrated with stunning photographic portraits taken by National Geographic photographer Paul Audia.
Sharing the Wisdom of Time is published in Ireland and the UK by Messenger Publications and is priced at €19.95/£18.95. It is available in all good bookshops or to order directly from www.messenger.ie
