NEW READS FROM FUTA FATA

The Spiddal, Co. Galway based publisher, Futa Fata, have been busy adding to their catalogue with a new original board book for toddlers and a new translation for older readers.

EOINÍN by Muireann Ní Chíobháin and illustrated by Róisín Hahessy.

Eoinín is the cutest little lamb who needs help to fly his kite.  This is a gorgeous interactive story during which the reader helps Eoinín to fly his kite.  Eoinín is sturdy large board book, ideal for little hands – both author and illustrator have left so much room for little imaginations to take flight.  A must for a toddlers’ library.  EOINÍN is available now nationwide in all good shops. RRP €8.95.

DIALANN DLÚTCHARA by Jeff Kinney, translated by Máirín Nic Con Iomaire

Futa Fata are well known for their translations of the DIALANN DÚRADÁIN (DIARY OF A WIMPY KID) series.  To date there are six books of Kinney’s best-selling series available as Gaeilge.  Indeed, the author himself is a good friend of Futa Fata at this stage so when he brought out a spin-off of the Wimpy Kid series, Futa Fata knew right away they’d be on board! The spin off series, Diary of a Friendly Awesome Kid or DIALANN DLÚTCHARA as it’s now known in Irish focuses on Greg’s best friend Rowley.  Over the years we’ve had Greg’s take on his high school years, now, it’s Rowley’s turn to give his side of the story. But Rowley has agreed to tell Greg’s story along the way, too. (After all, Greg says one day he will be rich and famous and the world will need to know how he managed it). But Rowley’s stories about Greg might not be quite what his friend had in mind . . . Another good fun read that is available in shops nationwide and from the Futa Fata website, RRP €9.95

Futa Fata have so many more wonderful books in the works, between translations, original fiction and mythological retellings so be sure to keep an eye on their social media and website over the coming months.
