An edited collection of extracts from the notebooks of celebrated Gaeltacht author Máirtín Ó Cadhain (1906–1970), providing a window on the language, society and personalities of 1930s Connemara. The collection is arranged under 10 themes (including health, love, land, the weather, sea and shore), and in addition to elucidating the meanings of given words and terms, many of the extracts are stories in themselves. Seán Ó Flaithearta, Inis Mór visual artist, has responded to the words and created original artworks to illustrate the book.
