NielsenIQ BookData provides a range of services to the book industry internationally, aiding in the discovery, purchase, distribution, and sales measurement of books. Established in 1858 by Joseph Whitaker, who founded The Bookseller magazine, we initially included a list of publications from 129 publishers in each issue. Today, our online database holds over 50 million individual title records.
In 2023, we merged with GfK, expanding our reach to track sales in 17 different territories across the globe. Our NielsenIQ BookScan Research services offer comprehensive retail sales analysis for books, complemented by insights from our Books & Consumers Survey, providing the most extensive reach within the global book community. Additionally, we run the ISBN and SAN Agencies for the UK & Ireland, and offer publishers a range of services from assigning an ISBN to adding metadata to our database and providing promotional tools to help market their books.
