Photo Museum Ireland is the national centre for contemporary photography. The Museum includes Ireland’s specialist photography bookshop and is located in Temple Bar, Dublin. We showcase exciting work by Irish and international photographers that stimulates debate and critical dialogues on the role of the photographic image. We support Irish artists’ development through residencies, commissions, curatorial advice and advocacy, unique artist’s production facilities, artist photobook publishing, touring and international promotion.
Photo Museum Ireland’s IMPRINT series is a publishing and residency initiative supporting artists in the development, design and production of catalogues, photobooks, and artists’ monographs. It offers participating artists the opportunity to be mentored by a panel of leading international curators, artists and photobook publishers.
Our publishing initiatives bring the work of artists featured in our programmes to wider audiences, creating open dialogues to critically frame contemporary photographic practices, and leaving an important record for the future. This builds on Photo Museum Ireland’s legacy of supporting artists’ practices since 1978, connecting with diverse communities, and stimulating debate on the role of photography in visual culture.
In 2024, we co-published ‘Akihiko Okamura: The Memories of Other’ with Prestel Publishing which received 3 international photobook awards and produced and published three exhibition catalogues under our IMPRINT series. Photo Museum Ireland is a registered charity.
