Publishing Ireland New Board 2021 – 2022

Following the Publishing Ireland AGM in late July, the newly formed board of directors will now be led by Ruth Hallinan of The Lilliput Press as President, replacing Joanna Smyth of Hachette Ireland, with Caoimhe Fox of New Island Books, elected to the role of Vice President. ‘It has been a hugely rewarding experience to assume the role of Publishing Ireland’s President over the past eleven months’ said outgoing President Joanna Smyth. ‘During a very strange time for the Irish publishing industry and the world at large, it has been a privilege to work closely with the board and to get to know better the talented people in Irish publishing. I would like to thank the board, Orla and the members who have assisted in making this a positive year for Publishing Ireland.’ On her election as President, Ruth Hallinan says, ‘Despite the inordinate challenges we have all faced since March 2020, Irish publishing has responded with great creativity. Publishing Ireland, as a community of publishers, has also adapted quickly. Thanks to the board and administrators of 2020-21, we will continue Publishing Ireland’s work from a place of strength, bringing our members the best value and most relevant training possible in the coming year.’
