Niamh Cooper is a writer and publisher who grew up in Germany to an Irish mother and an American father. She lives in West Cork with her two teenage daughters. After a career in training and communications management in American multinationals such as Microsoft, AT&T, AOL and Amazon, Niamh moved into publishing, and started her role as Editor with Authentik, a German language-learning magazine, affiliated with Trinity College, Dublin, in 2007. Since 2010, Niamh has been working as Publisher and Commissioning Editor with Folens Publishers, both as an employee, and now freelance, mainly looking after their modern foreign language books.

Through her own publishing company, eThentique (, set up in 2016, she published a charity book, ‘Lights on the Horizon’, written during lockdown in 2020. Supported by Jeremy Irons and Louise O’Neill, all proceeds go to frontline workers.

Niamh’s short stories, flash fiction, and short memoirs have been shortlisted in a variety of competitions in Ireland and abroad. In 2010, she was invited to perform her flash fiction story ‘Thirteen’ at the inaugural flash fiction competition at Listowel Writers’ Week. Her short memoir ‘Hell Run’ reached the top 10 in the Fish Publishing Short Memoir Prize. Niamh was recently commissioned to write and record a poem ‘The Promised Land’ for a global virtual event. It was first broadcast on US radio on 12th February 2021, on the NYC radio show ‘Ireland Calls’, hosted by Treasa Goodwin-Smyth.
