Skein Press Launches Code of Care with Publishing Ireland & Holy Show
Skein Press was delighted to launch its Code of Care at the Annual Irish Publishers Conference 2024. This Code of Care is aimed at supporting individuals traditionally underrepresented in Irish literature and publishing, and was created in partnership with Publishing Ireland and Holy Show.
This Code outlines fair and ethical standards for the literary and publishing sector. It includes best practices for working relationships, access and inclusion, community engagement, and organisational change. The Code aims to create a more collaborative and inclusive environment for all writers, editors, and publishers. We encourage literary and resource organisations to adopt this Code of Care in their practices.
The Code provides a framework that can deliver a more collaborative, equitable, creative, and inclusive literary and publishing sector for writers, editors and publishers who have traditionally been underrepresented and could be applied to writers from all backgrounds and communities, as well as the wider arts sector. It also serves as an advocacy tool to support the basis of policy and legislative change for the long-term benefit of the literary and publishing sector.
We welcome literary and resource organisations to endorse and adopt this Code of Care in their own practice. For more information, please email Skein Press.
